Wholesome cooking is all about balance—using simple ingredients to create meals that taste amazing and truly support your well-being. I’m passionate about making that process easy and fun, and I’d love for you to join me over on Instagram where I share new recipes and inspiration every week.

Oh and by the way, I’m so glad you’re here!

I must confess to you that I have never been the biggest fan of marinara sauce or any kind of pizza sauce in general. Even as a kid, I always requested my spaghetti without sauce (I know, I know).
To this day, although it’s grown on me a little bit, it’s still not my favorite. That being said, though, my entire family LOVES it. Like, can’t get enough, requests to eat spaghetti 24/7 loves it.
So, I set out to create a homemade pizza sauce recipe that everyone would love (me included). I was actually surprised at how much I liked this, even as a bit of a pizza sauce hater. I even added an extra scoop to my plate to dip my pizza in (gasp!)
Like most everything else in the world, homemade pizza sauce just tastes better when you make it yourself. And MAN, is it easy! Like, so easy you’ll be scratching your head as to why you’ve been spending money on store-bought versions.
Let’s make it!

Tips for Preparing to Make This Recipe
- Customize the Spice: If you like a little heat, you can always add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Sauce Texture: I often use an immersion blender to make the sauce a little smoother! I just add it directly into the saucepan and blend together for around 30 seconds before serving or storing.

Recipe FAQs & Storage Tips
Since homemade pizza sauce is obviously made without any preservatives, it doesn’t last as long as store-bought versions. However, it will store well in an airtight container for up to two weeks!
Yes! Allow the sauce to cool completely and then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw at room temperature and then reheat on the stove.
Although an optional step, I do think that allowing the sauce to cook for just a couple minutes gives all of the seasonings a chance to meld together- enhancing the overall flavor!
