Units
Scale
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1 7 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- To a saucepan over medium-high heat, add all of the ingredients. Using a whisk, stir together well until combined.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, boiling for 1-2 minutes (stirring often so it doesn't burn!) before removing from the heat. Enjoy immediately or allow to cool before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Customize the Spice: If you like a little heat, you can always add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Sauce Texture: I often use an immersion blender to make the sauce a little smoother! I just add it directly into the saucepan and blend together for around 30 seconds before serving or storing.
- Storage: Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
- Freezing Instructions: Allow the sauce to cool completely, then store in an airtight, freezer-friendly container for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw at room temperature before reheating over the stove.
