Easiest 4 Ingredient Einkorn Sausage Balls
Savory and delicious, this recipe for easy einkorn sausage balls utilizes only four ingredients and is given a little nutrient boost with the addition of einkorn flour! They come together quickly for the perfect addition to your breakfast table.

Sausage balls are a Christmas morning staple at our house. I hate to say I don’t make them very often any other time of year, but honestly I don’t know why! They are easy to make and so darn good.
A lot of sausage ball recipes are made with the addition of Bisquick, but I like to make mine with einkorn flour! This simple swap works perfectly in this recipe for an easy nutrient boost and to add some additional protein.
Our whole family devours them and I’m sure yours will, too! Let’s make ’em.

Tips for Preparing to Make This Recipe
- I used mild breakfast style sausage in this recipe, but you could use hot if you prefer!
- I highly recommend lining your baking sheet with parchment paper. This ensures that the sausage balls won’t stick to the pan once cooked, making cleanup a breeze!
- If you’re feeding a crowd, this recipe easily doubles.

Step by Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or a large mixing bowl, combine sausage, softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and einkorn flour.
- Turn the mixer on medium-low speed, mixing thoroughly until all the ingredients are combined.
- Using a medium sized cookie scoop or just your hands, begin grabbing some of the sausage mixture and rolling it into balls. Place each sausage ball about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until completely cooked through. Enjoy!

How to Quickly Soften Cream Cheese
If you’re in a pinch and need the cream cheese softened FAST, follow these instructions:
- Fill a bowl with hot water. Place the cream cheese directly in the water (making sure the outer foil is still intact!)
- Let the cream cheese sit for 10-15 minutes until perfectly softened. Voila!

Recipe FAQs & Storage
Yes! I recommend freezing uncooked sausage balls. They will store well in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Just note that you will have to adjust the cooking time to bake a few minutes longer if baking them straight from the freezer.
You don’t have to look far to find a long list that boasts all of the health benefits of einkorn flour. It is a delicious ancient grain that hasn’t been processed the same way as modern-day wheat. Packed full of nutrients, it is a great way to sneak in more protein and vitamins into your standard recipes! It has a high protein content and a much lower gluten content that is easier to digest, making it a great option for folks who are gluten sensitive.
There could be a couple issues here. There may have been too much flour added (if this is the case, try adding less next time or adding a little milk). The sausage balls may have also been overcooked.
