Sweet and Smoky BBQ Sauce Your Family Will Love
This sweet and smoky BBQ sauce comes together quickly using staple pantry ingredients. It is easy to make, delicious, and incredibly versatile for use in so many recipes!
Why Homemade Sauce?
For me, the reasoning behind making homemade condiments is for the same reason I make homemade bread. Although not exactly “health” food, it is much healthier to make it at home without all the preservatives and additives commonly found in BBQ sauce (…lookin’ at you, corn syrup, lookin’ at you…)
How to Make Sweet and Smoky BBQ Sauce
This yummy sauce is easy to make and comes together quickly! Simply dump all of your ingredients into a small saucepan, mix together, and heat for a few minutes. Something about heating up the sauce seems to really help kick up the flavor. I’m not sure exactly what happens, but just trust me. Heat it up for a few minutes and you won’t be sorry.
Recipe Ideas
Our favorite ways to use up this BBQ sauce? Well, the sky’s the limit really! We like to use it as our base for BBQ chicken pizza, to use for BBQ grilled chicken, to pour over shredded chicken or pork (see my easy shredded chicken recipe here!) or simply use it as a dipping sauce.
How to Store
This sauce will store in a sealed container in the fridge for 2-3 weeks. No fancy container needed! I will often use a mason jar or even small jam jars. And good news- it is also freezer friendly. Simply add it to a Ziploc bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to use, you can thaw easily by placing it in a bowl of hot water, or by simply placing it in a saucepan on low heat.
