Description

Learn how to easily cook hard boiled eggs using the Instant Pot! Fast, efficient, and no fail, this will be your new favorite method for boiling eggs!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Eggs (as many as will fit in a single layer)
  • 1 cup of cold water

Instructions

  1. Begin by measuring out 1 cup of cold water into a glass measuring cup. Pour it directly into the inner pot of the Instant Pot.
  2. Place the wire rack into the inner pot of the pressure cooker. Add eggs (you can use as many as will fit in one layer-don't stack them on top of each other!) I usually steam 8-10 at a time.
  3. Place the lid on the pressure cooker, making sure it has sealed completely and the vent knob is set to SEAL.
  4. Set cook time to 5 minutes on HIGH pressure.
  5. After cook time has elapsed, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes (you can set a timer to help yourself keep track of time).
  6. Once 5 minutes has elapsed, release any remaining pressure in Instant Pot by switching the vent knob to the VENT position (be cautious of any hot steam!)
  7. Using a potholder, remove the inner pot from the pressure cooker. Carefully drain the hot water over the sink. Place the pot into the sink and immediately begin to run cold water over the eggs.
  8. Keeping the cold water running, begin peeling each egg. You can lightly tap/roll the eggs on the counter to get them to crack. They should peel very easily once cracked.
  9. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You will need to use the trivet that comes with your Instant Pot to make this recipe. You don’t want the eggs sitting right up against the stainless steel insert- they could burn!
  • Make sure to measure at least one cup of water. The Instant Pot cannot come to pressure without enough water.
  • Depending on your specific model, the pressure cook button may be labeled as the manual button.
  • Make sure to use cold water, as hot or even warm water can alter the cook time.
  • My top tip? Don’t wait to peel your eggs! Although it can be tricky to peel eggs while they are still hot, I find that running them under cool water while peeling them helps to get the perfect peel every time.
  • Storage: Store peeled eggs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
